Vengence

Over the lake, this eagle had been in a scrap with a couple of seagulls over something or other. Often the smaller, more maneuverable birds have the upper “wing” on a fully mature eagle. This eagle retreated to a tall perch on shore, mustered its “troops” and flew with vengeance back into the battle. I like to think that it won the day considering its apparent resolve.

I call this eagle “Brando” for its blue band on its left leg. I have photographed him many times, but this photo was taken with a relatively slow shutter speed and I love that the wings are blurred a bit. Normally, with a slow shutter speed, the entire photo would be blurred. I was fortunate enough to be panning in perfect sync with the bird at that moment. The beak and eye are sharp, while the wings have a sense of speed about them. (shutter 1/250th sec)
